Contro Valve is pleased to announce that as of July 1st, 2020 we have been appointed the exclusive authorized representative for General Monitors Fixed Gas and Flame Detection Products. This representation covers the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador. General Monitors is recognized as a world leader in the development and manufacturing of state-of-the-art gas monitoring and flame detection instrumentation. The range of products includes combustibles gas detectors, toxic gas detectors, H2S detectors, flame detectors and ultrasonic gas leak detectors. General Monitors traces its history back to 1961 when it was formed in El Segundo, California by four aerospace engineers dedicated to providing hydrogen gas monitoring safety equipment to the United States space exploration programme, NASA. This concern for protecting life in the workplace evolved into a corporate commitment to providing gas and flame detection instrumentation to all industries. Since then, in 1965 General Monitors moved to new facilities in Costa Mesa, California. Shortly thereafter, Dr Frank Linville and Richard Muchmore purchased General Monitors. Under Dr Linville’s guidance from 1965 until 1987, and more recently by Don Edwards, the company prospered and earned a worldwide reputation as a leader in high-quality, innovative gas monitoring and flame detection products. In February 1991, General Monitors moved its current facility to lake Forest, California. In 2010 MSA purchased General Monitors, the combination of both companies has made them the world leader in gas monitoring and flame detection.
